📝 Open Choice Builder →📊 How Our Round-Aware Prediction Works
We use an advanced round-aware forecasting engine: every verdict starts from the newest officially published round (MCC 2026 Round 3), and the upgrade bands are projected using each college's own historical round-over-round movement:
- 🟢 High Chance (Eligible Right Now): Your All India Rank is better than or equal to the official closing rank of that seat in your own category in the latest published round. Reserved-category and PwD (PH) seats are never mixed into a General/OBC/SC/ST list — your category filter is exact.
- 🟡 Moderate Chance (Upgrade Target): Your rank is currently tighter than the latest round's boundary, but falls inside our projected next-round cutoff. That projection multiplies the current official closing rank by that specific college's own historical round-over-round drift from 2025 (with a conservative fallback where a slot has no history), capped so a one-seat outlier can never inflate the band. Colleges that have historically cooled down the most sit at the top of this list.
- 🔴 Low Chance (Stretch Option): Your rank sits within a 20% margin beyond the projected cutoff — a long shot that only materialises if seats are surrendered in the final vacancy rounds. Treat it as extra choice-list padding, never as a safety net.
State counselling pools (Karnataka, Punjab, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and more) read differently, because state authorities publish round-over-round movements that are much smaller and sometimes negative — Round 2 in Punjab actually closed tighter than Round 1. So instead of inventing a projected cutoff, the state pool shows only what the official lists prove:
- 🟢 Safe: that seat's official closing rank already sits at or beyond your AIR in the newest published round. You clear the bar today.
- 🔴 Just Missed (nearest bars): the closing ranks closest to your AIR, nearest first (up to 10), with the exact distance printed — "missed by 2,431" — plus how that bar already moved from Round 1 to Round 2: ▲ the bar loosened (worth watching for the next round) or ▼ the bar tightened (less likely to reach you). No invented projection is shown, because state drift is too small and sometimes negative to forecast honestly.
- NEW in R3 badge: the seat had no allotment in Round 1 at all — a genuinely new opening in the latest round (the state pools, whose newest round is Round 2, label it "NEW in R2").
- Every state pool loads the newest round automatically (the basis line names it), and slots that allotted in Round 1 but not the latest round keep their last known Round 1 bar.
